Izanami rice, an ancient rice from the Kumano region
Izanami rice is mixed with regular white rice at a ratio of 1 to 9. The cooked rice is slightly reddish as shown in the photo.
A minute's walk from this Michinoeki is Hananoiwaya Shrine, said to be the oldest shrine in Japan.
Generally, shrines have a "Goshintai(an object of worship)", but the Goshintai of Hananoiwaya shrine is the 70-meter-high boulder in the photo.
