Meaning of station Name "Okukawachi" is the generic name for the foothill area in southeastern Osaka. "Kuromaro" is from person's name "Kuromaro Takamuro", a native of Kawachinagano city. He was selected as Japan's first government-sponsored scholarship student in 608 A.D. and traveled to Sui Dynasty (China), where he was appointed as a national doctor after returning to Japan.
